My son only has about five weeks left before he goes back to school so I'm trying to find out what his discount price would be on a new computer. I never know what to buy because I know someone who has just about every brand and they all at some time or another say, "I'll never buy another _________." I suppose if I was apying full price I'd get a Dell (dude) but that's not a possibility if I buy now. Best Buy employees and their parents can buy just about anything in the store for 5% over Best Buy's cost so alot of it has to do with how much mark-up an item has. I was thinking towards a Sony multimedia machine but then researched the newer HPs and I think I may get get a Presario 763n (Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor, 2.53GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB Hard Drive, 2.4X DVD+RW and 48X CD-Rom Drives, Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition, nVidia GeForce4™ MX420 AGP graphics, with dedicated 64MB SDRAM, IEEE 1394 ports (front and rear), USB 2.0 (front and rear), IEEE 1394 - 4 pin, etc.) with an MX75 (17" flat screen) monitor and a 7130 photo printer (it also has rebates). Again, it depends on the price as I don't really need a new computer now but I hate to pass up a great deal if I can get one. That and my wife has been urging me to buy a new one so I need to act quickly! My daughter shave had their eye on my Compaq for a while now as the old machine they use barely has the CPU power to play all those Sims expansion packs. Hmmm....maybe a new digital camera too?
I got my car back from the auto body shop on Wednesday. It looks great but I haven't been driving it to work because I don't want to get the road salt all over the new paint. I'll probably start driving it again on Monday. Well that's it for now. Have a great evening and a great weekend!!
I've been so busy updating my other blogs that I almost forgot to stop here. I don't remember (it's rough getting old) why I didn't get on here yesterday but I suppose it's partly because of my up and down emotional ride lately, though it hasn't been that bad. Today I get home from work, after driving there this morning in a blizzard, to find my 20 year old son lounging on the sofa with his girl friend watching DVDs and the sidewalks and drive are still covered with the 4" of snow, so that didn't make me very happy nor did the fact that the whole time I was out shoveling, he never came out and offered to help. Its terrible to think that I don't really like my own son too much anymore and look forward to his returning to school in January. There is just so much less tension when he's not here. (Pray for both of us because I don't like what we are both becoming. I don't know how I'd be without God in my life!)
Right now I need to go take a shower, go get my driver's license photo taken and take my wife to look at new sofas. I promise to catch up on my blog reading very soon!
I thank you all for the well wishes and as a result I have had a great day!
First off, my son's situation with passing Math and getting back to school for his final semester has been causing alot of tension in my family. He is not doing well with the Math and when he tried to schedule it for next semester (in case he doesn't get a "C" to transfer) they told him he couldn't schedule it until they had accepted the previous Math he was transfering. By the time the school told him they'd accept the first Math class, they told him the second one was full! At that point I was ready to tell him to forget about it but I kept on the watch and this morning I logged unto the school web site and found an open slot and he called and got the class! I really hope he won't need it, but it's a great feeling to know it's there if he does. On top of that some friends from the school called him and they rented an apartment away from town (and away from the crooks he was forced to rent from before) so his place to stay is also taken care of! Praise God!! Hallelujah!!!
Secondly, I've been trying to find an obsolete part for an electrical panel at one of our lake dams. The first person I faxed about three weeks ago never responded so I inquired of another place which looked around and told me there were none to be found. Updating to a new part would have been a real hassle and something I wasn't keen on doing. About a week ago I dropped the ball on it because of the holidays, time off, etc and hadn't thought about it at all this week. Well today I received a fax from the first person who says they can get me the part I need! God IS Good!! Praise Him!!! Halleujah!!!
Thirdly, my car went to the body shop yesterday to get the damage from the deer repaired. I also asked about getting some scratches on the door fixed. Today I called and was told the car will be ready tomorrow afternoon and I won't be charged for the scratch repair! God IS Good and He DOES Good! Praise Him!! Hallelujah!!!
Well, good news all around to brighten up this cold fall day. When things don't seem to be going right, just remember God is concerned and is on the job even when we don't allow ourselves to see so. Plus, you never know what effect encouraging wors and well wishes will have another's circumstances. That's why the love of Christ is never concerned with who is right and who is wrong, but only that we treat others as we want to be treated and show them the unbiased love that Christ has showed for us.
My regular web log is at xanga.com/psalmist149 but I'm not too happy with the problems that seem to occur, not often, but often enough to make me seek an alternate site to post to. This looks encouraging and I hope to blog here often.
